Hatha Yoga
Although it seems like a hot new trend, yoga actually began more than 3,000 years ago in India. The word yoga comes from Sanskrit, and it means bring together the mind, body, and spirit.
Although yoga includes exercises it is also a lifestyle for which exercise is just one component. Disciplining your mind and body as well as connecting with your spirituality are the main goals of the yoga lifestyle.
The physical component of the yoga lifestyle is called hatha yoga. Hatha yoga focuses on asanas, or poses. A person who practices yoga goes through a series of specific poses while controlling his or her breathing.
Yoga has tons of benefits. It can improve flexibility, strength, balance, and stamina. In addition to the physical benefits, many people who practice yoga say that it reduces anxiety and stress and improves mental clarity.
Gyrokinesis
works the entire body through seven natural elements of spinal movement: forward, backwards, left side, right side, left twist, right twist, and circular.
This methodology systematically and gently works the joints and muscles through rhythmic and undulating exercises. Movement stimulates the body’s internal organs and different corresponding breathing patterns are integrated.
The beginner classes start with self-massage and simple breathing patterns to awaken the body. The next focus is on the spine and pelvis. Seated on low stools, the class mobilizes the spine through a series of arching, curling, bending, twisting and spiraling movements.
These same movement patterns are expanded to release the hip, knee, hamstring, quadriceps, and so on, in all possible directions: front, back, twisting, and turning. The more advanced classes add endurance training to bodies prepared for more strenuous activities. The classes encompass not only sitting, but also laying, and standing positions.
Private classes can be arranged for individuals or groups. Please contact me for more details.
